HiMama New Features

April 2020 Product Update: What’s New & Improved

The HiMama team has been hard at work building bigger and better features. Find a summary of all the new features currently available below. If you need assistance navigating any of these features then please don’t hesitate to reach out to support@himama.com, we’re here to help.

New: Name to Face Checks

HiMama now supports name to face entries. This new entry-type makes it easy to spot check children that are present in a particular space. This update will help you more easily fulfill licensing requirements and digitize your records. You can also view a report of name to face checks performed in your center. Learn more

New: Out of Ratio Alerts

Note: only available to Centers with the Staff Management module.

You now have the ability to enter your desired classroom ratios into HiMama. Once you’ve provided these target classroom ratios, HiMama will keep track of when a classroom has inadequate staff present in the room. When a room is out of ratio, administrators and classroom staff will receive a warning message so that you can more quickly rectify the issue. Learn more

New: Add An Address

There is now an address section on the Child Profile page. You currently have the ability to add one single address per child, so we recommend that you use whatever physical address may be of most value to your administration team. Normally this is the child’s primary residential address. Note: the address information is not visible to teachers, only administrators.

New: Parent Activity of the Day

As a direct response to COVID-19, the HiMama team quickly put together a collection of educational activities so that a child’s learning can continue at home throughout this ordeal. A new educational activity is available to send to parents each and every weekday. Please note that this feature may evolve as the present health crisis unfolds. Learn more

Improved: One-click to Classrooms

Note: only available to Centers with the Staff Management module.

As a center administrator, you can now more easily hop to classroom attendance pages with one click. On the center dashboard page, simply click on the classroom name, which can be found under the staff management section of the center dashboard page.

Improved: Partially Paid Invoices

Note: this update is relevant to centers with Payment Processing enabled.

Sometimes families will partially pay an invoice, resulting in an outstanding balance. Previously, HiMama administrators did not have the option to receive that remaining payment via a families’ credit card or bank account. That’s now been fixed. Partially paid invoices can be paid off using an electronic payment method. Learn more

That’s all for now. Stay tuned for further updates!

I would like to see an area on our own HiMama page where we can have a Notice Board to post important updates to parents and upload documents to so that parents can have access to these anytime. It is too difficult for parents to comb through all of the messages looking for one specific message for important information. For example, during COVID parents were looking for our link into our Zoom Circles because these links are set for more than just one meeting. So many parents/children missed our Zoom Circles, therefore it required us to send out notice to our families every week with the link. Also, some parents could not find the memo’s I sent them from the Ministry of Education, and asked me to resend them. I know that Storypark has a Notice Board area and I believe that this is a VERY needed upgrade to your platform. And BTW, your ratio tracking will overload staff of medium to large centres with even more documentation/tablet work instead of actually focusing on the children and KNOWING who they have with them. The real issue is that we are dealing with much greater behaviour challenges in daycare nowadays due to the current standards in play for behaviour guidance. So staff are dealing with the behaviours (putting out fires) and sometimes forget to do headcounts as children are waiting too long (creates even more behaviour) to complete their transition to outdoor play.

    • Hello Brenda,

Derek here from HiMama. Thank you for your feedback! I can see the benefit of having a particular place for your parents to visit, and I will be sure to keep this in mind for future updates.

The Out of Ratio feature is an optional one, so if you don’t find it helpful, then you aren’t required to use it and no alerts will be generated.

      Have a great day.
